One of Palo Alto’s premier neighbors, Crescent Park is a genteel area of tree-lined streets, featuring a mix of early twentieth century estates and California bungalows, while also offering a collection of homes built around 1900 and 1940. The heart of Crescent Park is its homes built in the 20s and 30s. These homes, built for Palo Alto’s growing upper middle class, include many Spanish revival style homes that give the neighborhood its Mediterranean feel. When it was established as a neighborhood, there was a community association that approved homes. Every home had to be of a certain quality. Owners had to spend at least $15,000 on their house, which was a lot of money at the time.

Crescent Park is well-loved for its quiet suburban atmosphere while still having immediate access to downtown Palo Alto and neighboring urban areas. Local public schools are considered among the best in northern California, and Palo Alto’s famous community services add to the appeal of this much-sought after locale.

The neighborhood is a great mix of people. Families who love the neighborhood because of the schools, amenities and community services. At the same time, there is all kinds of business in the downtown Palo Alto – venture businesses, design, startups – that attract a lot of young professionals. Lately, a lot of empty nesters have discovered Crescent Park. They like to buy the bungalows, the smaller homes that have a lot of character, so they can walk to downtown, go to Stanford, and be near great healthcare. Palo Alto is a really diverse and great community, and this neighborhood is one of its real jewels.
